Don’t Miss the 2024 Savannah Boat Parade of Lights on November 30th

Experience the Magic of the Savannah Boat Parade of Lights This Holiday Season

The holiday season in Savannah wouldn’t be complete without the dazzling Savannah Boat Parade of Lights, an annual tradition that brings joy to locals and visitors alike. This year’s festivities promise to be as spectacular as ever, with a fleet of beautifully decorated boats lighting up the Savannah River and signaling the start of the most wonderful time of the year.

A Festive Voyage Through Savannah’s Riverfront

Mark your calendars! On Saturday, November 30th, the parade kicks off at 7 p.m. from the Dock at Eastern Wharf near the Thompson Savannah Hotel, this year’s Premier Sponsor. Led by the iconic Georgia Queen Riverboat, the illuminated vessels will glide down the river past the Convention Center, circle back at the Talmadge Bridge, and sail along Plant Riverside District and historic River Street. Guests can catch a second loop as the boats return to the Eastern Wharf, where additional festivities, live music, and holiday cheer await.

With thousands of spectators flocking to the riverfront, it’s the perfect opportunity to soak in the holiday magic with family and friends. Whether you’re enjoying the view from one of Savannah’s scenic parks or settling into a cozy spot at a riverfront restaurant, this event is sure to create memories to treasure.

Supporting a Worthy Cause

While the parade is free to the public, it’s also a celebration with heart. Funds raised from sponsorships help cover event costs and benefit Greenbriar Children’s Center, a vital nonprofit organization in Savannah for over 75 years. Greenbriar provides essential services, including an emergency shelter for children, affordable early childcare centers, and family counseling programs.

“Children are the heart of the Christmas holiday,” says Gena P. Taylor, Executive Director of Greenbriar Children’s Center. “We’re so grateful to the Savannah Boat Parade of Lights and its sponsors for bringing joy to our community while supporting children in need.”

Make It a Savannah Holiday Tradition

Savannah’s historic riverfront transforms into a glittering wonderland during the Boat Parade of Lights, creating an enchanting backdrop to kick off the holiday season. As Joe Marinelli, President of Visit Savannah, puts it, “Savannah welcomes visitors to enjoy our historic squares and riverfront during the holidays, where they can experience the magic of the parade alongside the hospitality of our local shops and restaurants.”

Don’t miss this unforgettable holiday tradition that captures the spirit of Savannah. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, the Savannah Boat Parade of Lights offers a heartwarming blend of festive fun and meaningful giving.
